STORY
Founder of Desert Métis Creations, Alexa Lizotte, created the classic Métis sash earring in August of 2020. Like many others, the year of 2020 was particularly tough for Alexa and she faced many challenges larger than she had experienced before. Although there were so many challenging moments, there were so many moments of growth. This year of embracing her culture, including all beautiful and damaging parts of it, reminded her of what the black Métis sash represents, and what led her to create her piece. Without the dark times, the Métis would not shine the way we do today.
